Yellow Duck Seal
Squeaking Name Seal
Japanese name seals are usually associated with formal and serious occasions. Yellow Duck Seal questions why that act of stamping has to feel so restrained.
When pressed, it prints a name and lets out the familiar squeak of a rubber duck, bringing a playful interruption into an otherwise formal gesture.
Rather than directly reproducing the appearance of a toy duck, the form is reduced to a few essential cues. Its yellow body, rounded silhouette and sound are enough to evoke the memory.
By combining the seriousness of a name seal with the character of a childhood toy, the design explores the boundary between functional object and play.
